"Before my time," Ollie said. "Pop Sullivan told me about her. When her husband was alive, they used to catch and sell fish. He also made moonshine... gave away a bottle now and then... but never sold any. After he died, she continued selling fish until the old boat began to leak too much. Then she started selling moonshine. Younger than she looked and she was tough. Most women of her family lived over a hundred years."
"Why would anyone think she had returned?" Harry asked.
"She had a signal," Ollie said. "If she had fish or moonshine to sell, she would fly a white kite. And she usually had both."
"Could someone else be using her signal? Did they have children?"
Ollie shook his head. "No children, but many probably heard about her signal."
"So anyone could be using it to sell moonshine," Harry said. "Definitely something to think about. "Any ideas?"
"Unfortunately, I haven't had time to check it out," Ollie said. "Busy harvesting apples and berries. I see it from a distance, get home late, and it's gone. But..." After a moment of silence, he continued, "Next time I see it, I'll call and we'll take it from there."
"Sounds like a plan to me," Harry said, preparing to leave. "It's nice to have you back."
Ollie grinned. "Don't spread the word too far. I kind of like being a ghost."
Harry walked out the door, laughing and shaking his head.
********************
The following Wednesday, Harry received a short call: "Meet me at the cabin."
A short time later, he kept one eye on the contraption floating over the swamp, as Ollie led the way through the dense growth. It appeared to be attached to a drone, which was keeping it afloat.
Suddenly, Ollie stopped and Harry stepped up beside him. "Up to something," Ollie whispered, pointing to several figures standing beside the water. One appeared to have something in his hand, perhaps a control box, and they were whispering.
Harry caught a glimpse of the face of one of them. "I know who they are," he whispered to Ollie as he stepped softly forward.
"What are you up to now?"
Six figures froze momentarily, then turned to face him. Juliia Carter stepped towards him. "Mr. Hogan," she said, smiling. "We didn't think we needed permission to film out here."
Harry chuckled. "Probably not, but one person thought he was seeing things over the swamp as he drove home from working in the city."
Pete Robbins spoke quietly. "We didn't think anyone would pay much attention."
"Tell him the next time he sees it, to stop by and see what we're doing if it will ease his mind," Julia said.
"I'll do that." Then he turned to Ollie and introduced them. "Julia Carter, Ben Martin, Pete Robbins, Susie Quinn, Marie LaKarsh, and Carl Porter. They're studying various aspects of the film industry."
Ollie frowned. "Not a good place to be filming in the dark. Dangerous wildlife out here."
"Precisely why the actors work in the studio," Susie said. "This is background work."
"Exactly what are you doing?" Harry asked.
