On A Cloudless Day

Light illuminates
the truck stop
and the clinging couple
by the river.

It catches
children on swings
and a woman in bikini
tanning on her back lawn.

Light separates
oak from pine,
mountains
from sky.

Light brightens
a store window.
But it respects
the darker wishes of an alley.
